We've been thinking alot more about helping out the members, sharing mensajes and gaining more confidence in them and get them to love each other again.
this week we contacted alot, too much for to be good for your health, and had alot of rejections. The field is white already to harvest, but its a matter of finding to escogidos, not just knocking doors.
The family we ate with yesterday, the husband is a consejero del obispo and was telling us all about the relation between the book of mormon and mexico. Mexico and its history is the book of mormon. between all the arceological findings and everything. and how there is governmental agency that takes all the arceaological finds and saves them or sells them but take them away from every lugar and people because every finding supports the book of mormon and that kind of stuuf. theres been finding of baptismal fonts in a state called chapas, that in one place they found a tomb of a body that was a leader of the people, that had a huge body frame and the facial features and DNA were all different then the Mayans(aka lamanites) and that the writings and representations say that he was a the leader of them all, and that the people were hard workers and had alot and prospered in the land and that this leader had 2 counselours and then 12 "priests" that he and them met alot in a "holy building" and discussed the affairs of the people. and that archeologists are wonderin who in the world this person was, and how he got there. and the brother told it more descriptive and it fits exactly into Nefi when he established his kingdom and told us more stuff where science and discoveries fit hand in hand with the book of mormon.
And he told us about his 100s of awesome experiences in his mission including a run in with a Catholi church leader that had a library of our Church books at his house, Jesus the Christ, the triple, and that he had a testimony of the BoM and the church and has wanted to leave but knew he would be killed by the "Caballeros de Colón" im not sure the right translation in english but look it up, it sounds interesting but its the group that has permision from the pope to assasinate the high priests and leaders of the church that want to turn away.
But all that isn’t why we beleive its true, but that we've recieved and answer from the holy ghost, thats the difference between "mormonism" and everyone else, we believe in a living god that loves us and communicates with us, not just what the bible thats been handed down for 2000 years and changed to be the basics of our beliefs.
so serve God, and be good children of Him that hast created thee, my brethren and sistren.

February 14
This week was alright, we worked more and more but what was really neat was we had our conference Thursday with President of the Area of Mexico Elder Johnson came in and talked to us at the stake center by the temple, it was powerful and made me feel more powerful. and all the ward and stake leaders have had multiple conferences with him since he's been in town. and Saturday in the night he and President Call put on a fireside for recent converts and investigators to come and hear them give the fireside.
So far we're working well, and I think that were going to start hittin up the members more to help us. Elder Bante came in today and is going to be one of the Zone leaders of my zone, funny. So now I'll see and talk to him a little. Actually he called me to tell me he's here and I was asking about a few of the people in Victoria and he said that Grandma Sara kissed him last night and that he was bawling at their house and a few other investigators we were teaching are coming along and are going to be baptized so thats great.
You all can send me ideas how to find more people to teach, how to motivate ward members to work in the ward and fulfill their callings, and give missionaries references, i would appreciate it. Or what could a ward activity be we could have to help them humble themselves and love one another again.
But ya, Joseph Smith said a man would draw himself closer to God by following the precepts of the Book of Mormon than any other book in the world, but you got to read it to know what precepts to follow, so do it and be a doers of the word and not only hearers and think about this, if 1/13 of all the members in the world could give the missionaries 1 golden investigator 1 time a year, how would the work progress? it would triple the yearly rate thats happened in these past years. But thats with 1/13 of the members working, think about a little more, This is my invitation to my family, friends and everyone, find at least 1 person in this year to baptise further the work of the Lord, be a doer of the word and find people, His work and glory is to bring to pass the eternal life of man, what's our work and glory if we really are trying to be like Him????
love you all, and study and work

SuperBowl Sunday
That’s good you were all home cozy warm and watched the superbowl in the big screen.
This whole week I was in the threesome with the the most cheerful misionero in the mission Elder Salazar and the most quiet non talkative person I've ever known in my life Elder Isaak. I tried my hardest to get him to talk to me but he wouldn’t, when you ask him questions he just stares at you for 5 minutes and then responds with a one word answer or says 'I dont know' it was hard and Salazar is already one of my favorites in the mission, he sometimes is too cheerful and smiling and being positive with people but it was great. I was able to learn from them both,
A huge cold front came in and almost killed me. It was extremely cold for 3 days and I barely made it through the nights. I slept with that big coat and a sweatshirt wrapped around my head. Some of the members and people said one morning it got down 2 degrees celcius, but the humidity is what makes you cold. It was rough, and the people down here cannot handle cold, the streets were cleared for this time.
They bumped me up a notch in the totem pole and now I got a new comp, his name is Elder Palestino, he’s from Sonora Mexico too. He has about 5 months in the mission, so were both young in the mission, but ready to get going to the work, I've been coming up with new ideas to work with the members to get things going again in barrio Tancol.
You all should look at the talk by Jeffery Holland on ww.mormon.org, its a video of him giving his testimony of the book of mormon and he holds in his hand the actually copy that Hyrum Smith and in Carthage Jail when they were martyred, you should all listen to his full talk, its very power full and blunt. I like it and I’m trying to be more direct bold but still loving.
The president of the area, president Johnson is coming in this week, were going to have zone conference with him and have firesides and stuff. I’m excited to hear some more stuff. Things are picking up in the church, prophecies are being fulfilled and we all need to get what we can in, in the time we have in this life so we can all be happy in the last day.
Time does fly, I read through the end of 2 Nefi and Jacob this week, and like Jacob says at the end of his testimony, the time has passed, and our lives too as if it were a dream. 7 months ago I was running around in West Weber, it all seems so foreign, it seems like this is the life, here, doing this and that its never going to end, but one day it will and I might cry. For that reason, in the meantime I’m going to have to get done what I can. To all bid ye farewell as I get back into the work this week
Os amo. sale pues.. bye

Jan. 31
Well I just cant have a normal week of work in this month of January it seems like.
Elder Villanueva has been a good elder but now has to go home to work some things out-so in other words I'm with two other misioneros, Elder Salazar and Elder Isaak, from Boise Idaho, he has like 4 months in the mission and by the way I complete 7 months and the time is going a little fast now and all the mission is equal with 2 by 2 companions except me we're the only threesome. A new gringo is coming in this week, and they´ll do some changes and give me a different mexican comp and i´ll be back working full time in Barrio Tancol again, now we´re trying to work the two areas and its been hard. We had 5 hours of church yesterday two blocks in my ward and the 3 in theres. It's been a good experience for the 3 of us. Elder Salazar is really cheerfull, easy going, and loving to the people, and talks to everyone in the streets , but elder Isaak does not speak, not even at misioneros let alone at investigators so go figure that one why they´re together. haha. I´ve been trying my hardest to get him to talk to me and Salazar but its rough, you ask him a question in Spanish or English and he just looks at you blank and takes 10 min to respond with a one word answer. I need you to send one of them cow shockers to get him to respond. haha i told him that once and he gave me that blank look of ´´WHY?´´ so I've been able to keep compy with Salazar and try to help Isaak work, I guess he hasn´t put two and two together that your never going to be able to fulfill your calling if you dont talk to anyone and that the work is more than just walking around followng your comp and sweatin your gonads off, you got to help and teach and baptize and that all comes with opening your mouth, But its been fun Salazar is fun to work and teach with. so its my goal to help the two out how I can and then when I get back in my area go to town again working.
Other than that, we aint nothin but good ole boys, me entendeis? oh yea and take advantage of missionary opportunities. and help out the less actives, you never do know if they´ll return until after you try to help them out. Its kind of like the 2 Nefi 25:23 scripture, that you dont recieve salvation until after doing everything could, so ask yourselves if your helping others like you should be with all you could do, and like D&C 4 says that when you thrust in your sickle with your might brings salvation to your soul, so if you want salvation, thrust in your sickle which means do something, do the work, faith with out works is dead so if you want to help people and you have faith it means your doing somithhiing. there´s two talks by Elder Bednar you should all look up, called Asking in Faith and Learning By Faith somethin like that. and in one of the two he says that the person that prays at the pulpit to please bless all that couldnt make it this week to return the next, but doesn't try to help anyone during the week come, their prayer is in vain because there is no faith in it. The same applies with the missionaries, so if we pray please bless the missionaries find people to baptise, where´s the faith in this prayer? it means that we as members are looking as well to find people for the missionaris to teach. Pres. Gordan B Hinckly gave a talk once, and its in Preach My Gospel Chapter 9 (Preach My Gospel is the book you should all be studying, its not only for the missionaries its for whoever really wants to magnify they´re church calling) and he says that we as members are sometimes confused that mission work is just for the full time missionaries. he says on the contrary that we as members are full time finders, and the missionaries are full time teachers, so how are we doing at that at home, finding people? so thats the basics be a doer of the word and not only a hearer like James the brother of Jesus says. like moses 1:39 says Gods work and glory is bring to pass the eternal life of man, and if we want to be like him, whats our work and glory? and what are we doing to fulfill it?
Help out the ward and dont be fritos or muertos, being a member is more than just going to church giving our talks and being a good person. it means living it everyday. and being a good example to people because were mormon should come from our love we have for God and not just ´´I should be a good example cuz im mormon´´ and being a good example didnt baptise many people, but being the example and inviting people to come unto Christ did and does, so do it. Helping others helps God, and your own salvation
be good and get er done, and whats going on with my truck?

January 24
We had interviews two weeks ago and I was talking with Sister Call about whatever stuff, she likes chatting with me, but she was saying that President Call's mom, Marion Call has worked in the Ogden temple forever and now that its closing they dont know what she's going to do. I told her that Grandpa and Grandma Hancock had been working there for quite some time... so if they know each other it would be a small world huh.
It was stake conference, Saturday was normal conference session and Sunday they broadcasted from Salt Lake City a session especifically for this region of Mexico, Elder Jeffery R. Holland was the presiding authority and Elder Grow from the 70s was directing it. they basically told Mexico that they need to step it up and be better members and support themselves and pull their own weight.
4 points specifically were 1-the responsiblities of parents teaching their childeren the doctorine, 2-fulfilling temple covenents and working in the temples and taking out their endownments, 3- pay your tithing, a worthy full tithing, 4- and the church wants to see more missionaries from mexico. they compared statistics with the USA and Canada and Mexico and between u.s. and Canada 50% of the jovenes go on missions and only 10% of mexican jovenes go on missions or something like that and that if the number was the same as U.S. there would be between 16,000 and 17,000 more missionaris serving full time missions and stuff like that. They mentioned alot about how basically the mexicans are the lamanites descendents and need to step it up and fulfill the covenants, prophecies, and work of God.
Things seem like the church is trying to push the members to really be members and everyone work harder and better. Remember that really be members and fulfill your baptismal covenents by always being a servant of Christ and doing the work of god which is to bring to pass the eternal life of man(moses 1:39)
When Jeffery Holland spoke he started out speaking spanish really bad and said that to spare us all he's going to give his talk in english and have it interpreted but when he closed he was all emotional like everytime he talks and started bearring his testimony in spanish, but fluent and without thinking about the conjugations and translations of the words, it was cool to see. These leaders are really called of God and have magnified their priesthood authority and are guiding the church in the direction that He wants.
Help Levi help the ward and try to get all them inactives to church and fulfill your callings. and if anyone wants to send me some good bible bashing scriptures that would be cool, i can sustain myself but you know, the more the merrier!

January 17
The 15 yr old that was supposed to be baptized this weekend, the one that got his life electrocuted and his foot is burned up couldnt be baptized cuz he caught a bad case of chicken pox. yep, what an excuse. They went into the doctor and the doctor dre. says...nothing doctor dre´s dead (that frase doesnt mean anything relevant to the story, but if my friends are reading this, they´ll understand,(?) but the doc. says that he can't get wet so we´ll have to wait. This kid and his aunt and uncle have gone through so much lately with him and other stuff. But k chido that the uncle got called to be the ward mission leader, we have one now. The first meeting we had here with the bishopbric cuz there wasn't one, I asked who were the visiting teachers and the ward missionaries and stuff like that and mutual activivties and ward family home evenings and he replied theres none to all the questions. and then at church we presented ourselves in priesthood and said we want to work with them and that we want to do divisions with them (which we didn't know were ilgela in the mission until after) and then this past meeting we had, he told us that he's assigning some couples to be home teachers with the less actives and new ideas and then told us that I made him think about what they´re doing in the ward due to my insistance or something to that effect. so we´ll see what happens, huh!
We had interviews with President Call Tuesday, it went good. and what do you know, I received my packages and a few letters. I was very excited to see them all. The peanut butter, candy, usb memory and I got the package from grandpa hobbs, on the paper sheet said that there was a hat in the box but when I opened it there wasnt so maybe it got robbed. But make sure to telll them thanks and that I eat the candy while I study on those days that I'm tired to keep me awake.
Elder Villanueva is the only member in his family. his parents are divorced and the dad lives in Arizona and the mom in Mexico and he entered the church through friends and a girlfriend and after a year of going to mutal activitiees he talked to the missionaries, figured out the church is true, and a year later went on his misssion, story of his life something like that. When he told his mom he was going, she said OK if you think its right, I support you so everything is good with his family in that way. There´s another missionary in the mission that I know that he's the only member and when he told his mom she said no so a ward friend is supporting him and he hasn't talked to his mom for a year, he called the hosue and talked to brother and the mom wouldn't talk to him.
It rained this week and was really cold and it was the first time that I used the coat, it was nice, the week was rough with the weather and some other stuff but ya its all going fine here. That's great about the missionary work there in West Weber, they should push it more and baptise Eddy and his family. They should open up a spanish branch in our stake and all the mecxican return missionaries could work in the spanish ward to bring to pass moses 1:39 in Weber North Stake.
Have fun, fulfill your callings and study preach my gospel, its not just for missionsaries it helps everyone at every level in the church.

January 10th
Well here we are again writing in an internet server in Mexico. This week seemed ok in some aspects , but our numbers are low. But I am not going to base our success on numbers. My new comp had had problems with his past companion, and at this point it seems that he likes the mission again. It appears that I have special duties that president wants to see changed concerning him. He´s got a good heart, and he’s a convert for about 2 years now, and one of those years is in the mission. But I’m excited, its like we started new, my comp doesn’t know alot of the members, or anyone actually so were starting new. We are getting along well and have a good outlook.
This week was the week of the Kings in Mexico. the Rosca. you can look it up later the tradisciions but long story short I owe tamales.... and by the way in Victoria between 24th of December and the new año I ate 54 tamales.....
There’s an investigator that is 15 and is named Owaldo, there´s some problems in his family that he had to live with his grandma, but she kicked him out of the house so his aunt and uncle took him in and they are members. Before I came in they had him talking to the missionaries but he didn’t want to follow them so his uncle told him something bad is going to happen if he rejects the gospel and then one day he was working on the roof of his uncles house and somehow hit the power lines above and got his life dang near electrocuted dead and instead of falling off and dying he fell some different way that saved his life... the missionaries went and blessed him and he came home this week and we met up and he wants to listen and be baptized now. He has a big old burn mark in his foot, maybe ill take pic one day and send it, and he cant travel very well because of his foot so he hangs out at the house all day and has read the book of mormon fairley well and he went to church so we’re thinking about baptising him this Saturday if he can.
This ward has had problems in the past with bishops offending the members and one that was chasin tail so there´s not alot of help at the ward ,, so theres a lot of work to do done here, the ward mission leader doest even go to church. I want to get ahold of this new 2010 church manual in spanish some how
....and tomoro were going in to the offices to pick up some supplies so hopeflully the package is there huh?
and I finished the triplet, BoM, D&C, and Pearl of Gran Precio so I’m reading the Libro de Mormon en espanol but ya life is good I’m doing well with everything... My house is a mansion compared to the last one I was at, its like an old Victorian small mexican redition home, the lady that owned it died like six months ago, but not in the house, and now the son rents it at the missionaries, and I’m pretty sure she was a Jehova Witness, there are two of their bibles and alot of others signs that point to that, one of them is what is commonly referred to as ´´ the green dragon´´. but its cool the house is nice and things are working out. So have fun, read the scriptures and visit the less actives, ask Levi what you could all do to help out the work in the ward,
This week was the week of the Kings in Mexico. the Rosca. you can look it up later the tradisciions but long story short I owe tamales.... and by the way in Victoria between 24th of December and the new año I ate 54 tamales.....
