It was an alright week. Elder Murga is a lot different than Elder Ortega, but I feel like we understand each other better, as in habits way of being or train of thought. He is 22 and was in the mexican army for a little while, when people asked me what happened to the other comp and whos the new one i tell them that he Ortega went the new place and this is my new comp elder Murga, he was a soulja but now he ´s one of Gods Soldiers! I think he gets a kick out of that.
We had a some what rough week finding people and that. and my toe got infected again and i callled the hna. Call and she told me to go get er fixed already and stopped waiting to see if i can do it, so tommorow were going to go check it out what the docotor says.
were getting ahold of some bikes, we took one home from a member last night thats going to let us borrow it, it only needs a chain and a seat and a tire, and then Karem and her family is going to let us borrow one that they dont use, but i think its in better condition. Were actually working with her family a little bit more, her brother thats 13 will more than likely the first one to be baptised from them, and the dad is starting to warm up to us a little more now and were going to try to teach them all.
Arnoldo is a 26 yer old that has 3 little girls and his girlfriend took their kids about 3 months ago and left him because hes been so bad with drinking and that and weve been teaching him for almost two months and has progressed alot, he was going to be baptized last weekend but the day of the interview we showed up and he was drinking with his friends, it nos desanimò but he still wants to quit and change his life. i like teaching and talking with him because he reminds me of some few people i know back home and he has a small ranch outside of the city that he goes and works with his dad and it always makes me laugh to see him dressed up in his work cowboy attire and to think thats what we wear back home on the farm.
I love this place, even though its not that pretty and doesnt have much, except for alot of problems, President Call has called our zone the pride of the mission because it has completely taken a 180 degree turn in the past two changes than what it has been.
have a great week i love you all and give a shout out to Grandpa Hobbs for his 80th birthday from the otherside of the border.

Happy Father's Day
Yep, if i remember right, about this time last year I was in California, or Cole and I were making plans or something like that. The point of the fact is the time does go by really fast, its something amazing and scary and pressuring, to even think what will I do this time of the year next year, that the half of this escapade is already about there and the 2nd is always faster than the first. What I've learned is that we need to have an overall goal, to know of the future and be confident in it, but be focused in the moment of what we are doing to accomplish the thing in this moment, its like a phrase from Pres. Monson that I read a little while ago is that it doesn't require perfection but a steady consistent effort striving for the perfection.
Today were changes, my companion Elder Ortega was sent away to Tantauca, Veracruz, maybe that was an area part of Big Johns mission and I have another comp that is from the same generation as Elder Ortega, his name is Elder Murga. I've always been bigger than my comps by a long shot, but this elder might be bigger than me. He came in from a city called Valles and my trainer Elder Bante is a Zone leader there and sent me a tie with Elder Murga for my mision birthday for completing a year that was nice.
We had a huge upset this weekend, Friday night we were going to have an interview with and investigator that was going to be baptized and he was drinking outside of his house, it was like a nightmare seeing him drinking , and the day of the interview. It broke my heart to see him like that after the two weeks that he hadn't been drinking and how excited he was to be baptized and everything. But this chamucillo siempre anda and I imagine its how the pioneers felt a few times that just when everything started looking like there was hope, a blizzard came in, or had to cross a river another obstacle to climb. The life can be hard but you ´´just got to get back up and give er´one more ride sweat and blood it takes all you got cuz the road to heaven is a he[ck] of a ride´´ and it can be very true but also a beatiful ride.
Were going to focus in more with Karen's family, the girl we baptized in May, to complete the family and we have some references from some ward members that are looking great. We also need to find a house in our area, we've been living outside of the area and with two others, and one shower, its hard sometimes and we were going to look in to finding some bikes.
and lately ive been hooked on making liquadosof oats banana and milk for breakfast. I really like them, but yea its an adventure everyday, i love it
have a great week bye

Thats too bad for Lamar, he was my home teaching companion for a little while in the ward, If I remember right, there´s an old country song about all my country hereos are gone, or something like that, Rusten would know what it is, I think its a Willie or a Waylon or Hank Williams song, but thats how I would feel, he will be missed. That is awesome that Valorie was here in Matamores, I think its a few hours away from here. And that's awesome that your memorizing section 4 Heston.
This week was pretty good. We put out a fire on Friday that was burning in the field across the street from where we were teaching a 15 yer old kid. The field was up in blaze and there is a little house in the middle and the fire started and when we noticed it got out of hand we ended the lesson, ran over and used the neighbors water and buckets to block out the fire from the little house in the middle. We saved the house and the field and some trees burned up and after the house was protected and we stopped worrying about it, the fireman showed up and we looked around and saw that all the neighbors in the community were watching, and watching the 3 of us save the house, a teenager and me and my comp, no time to bother helping us. That kind of upset me, to know that everyone knew but wasn't worried about it. that goes along with the idea of service. Then in the night, a member found us and drove us home and there was a car out of gas near a gas station that a young father was pushing into the gas station with traffic all over and his wife and kids in the car guiding it. I asked the member if we should stop and help, so he did and we helped him push it into the gas station and left. The member told us a story about a comedian who joked that when we dont want to do something, we close our eyes or something like that and expressed to us that thats how he felt at first when he saw the guy pushing the car, that he wanted to close his eyes and drive by, until we helped him open his eyes. That is something that sometimes we dont apply in the life. all around us we see, physically with our eyes that people need help, but sometimes we dont see with our hearts, to realize that equally they are children of our Father in Heavan and He loves them just as much as He loves us, and that His childeren need help, but thats how he can help them is through us. The sooner someone learns that principle in their life, the sooner they will be blessed and all of Gods childeren.
have a great week, bye

I read in the last parts of the book of mormon this week, and in those the most powerful chapters of Ether 12 and Moroni 7, i encourage all to read those two, and really focus on Moroni 7 about the correlation between the faith and hope and charity, and basically you cant have one without the other and if we end our days without charity we wont have much hope to recieve the highest exaltation which God has for us.
I tell you these things because its what I've learned more about this week, the importance of being humble, and charitable and patient and that gifts are gifts and aren't necesarily earned as we would desire or imagine, but are given in the debido tiempo del Señor... I think that I developed lots of pride playing sports and growing up in the environment in which I did, and it has played a role in the bumpy roads that I've had in the mission, and maybe if I could rid of it, there wouldnt be so many bumpy roads to humble me down... but with the bitter times, it makes you appreciate the sweeter moments.
.. and yes im eating well, and I drink enough water, I maintain myself well, I started getting more concious about my health a little while ago, I bought a fat sweat belt to go around my waste about a month ago, and I think its worked, and I try to eat healthier. I'm taking care of myself so if you could all take care of my truck that'd be great.
love you bye

School's OUT for SUMMER!
...well here we are now, 11 months ago I was dropped off at the mtc after mom packed my bags while I was down in the shed talking to Blair and Levi and Steve. Dad had to come drag me in so I´d get showered and ready, its hard to imagine it, it seems so distant. Thats good your having BBQ, I've been craving some BBQ but it doesnt exist here, I found some BBQ sauce in the store but haven't used it, theres nothing to use it on, and theres not enough time to cook some meat in the house, everything is busy day after day, studying, preparing, teaching and doing it over and over there is no time for anything else. The church is starting a new program/course that they're making to help support more with the Preach My Gospel and supposedly its to be so efective that a newly arrived missionary after the 12 week course would be prepared to train another newly arrived missionary and so our mission is trying the 12 week course out.. right now its just a draft of the program because the program requires tvs dvds and stuff like that, which we dont have. The trainers will have access to watch these dvds when applicable whatever day in the week cuz theyll have tvs and that. its interesting.
I complete 11 months today, I'm almost half way over, its soo weird because sometimes it seems like an eternity and sometimes it goes by like a dream.....that's why you got to echar what you can so that there arent any regrets. It's the mission, its the life, and im quite sure thats how Grandpa Hancock feels too right now, sometimes an eternity and a lot of times in a blink of an eye. Well have a great week love you all and look out for that rain.

2 weeks of May
May 23,
We are still together, which is good, we get along well and are doing well together, Elder Ortega is probably my favorite companion I’ve had in the field. We had zone conference Wednesday it was awesome, we watched a talk that Jeffery R Holland gave in the mtc in January, it was great and powerful like all of his talks when he gets emotional talking about missionary work. There are so many things that you learn in the mission if you open your eyes and your heart, like they say and which I do believe, that you learn the same amount in 2 years than being a normal member could learn in 20, you learn your real purpose of life, even though everyone says that "knows" the gospel says that, but if you havent served God, you dont know the "real" purpose of life.
I am very complacido with the missionary work Maisie is doing, I give her a shout out. and I expect to hear more from all yall. We found quite a few people this week and put a few baptismal dates, when President gets an idea, he has it until its accomplished and we’re all still fixed on the idea to baptize every week, and what President’s new vision is to start baptizing 500 every change before the end of the year, and it would be realized if everyone baptized at least 1 a week and right now the last change as a mission we baptized 126 and the change before 138 but that is about double than it was a year ago, President Call is tearing the mission up, they used to call it the Mision Mexico Tanfrito instead of Tampico for how bad it was about two years ago and before that, and he has changed it about 180 degrees and improving it more.
But ya its awesome, the life is awesome and God really has his servants working in his vineyard for the last time, and wouldn’t it be great if everyone was on board doing their part. Well Maisie so far is the winner of sharing the gospel, the little girl is beating out everyone at home, I expect things to change and pick up there, stretch forth thine hands to those who are low in spirit and bring them to church. and I love you all have a great week, and be grateful for the water, everyone here in Mante are complaining how hot it is and how there isn’t any rain.
love you all

Yeah sometimes I do get caught up in hitting the homer, and that basically the concept that president has been telling us to do for around the last 3 changes-ish, that we just need to be consistent, finding people and staying obedient and planning our time better to bring to pass all the necessities the people would need to be baptized, but its great.
Some of the things that have marveled me the most about the mission is the greatness of God, like the book of mormon says in the first page that its here to convince the jew and the gentile that Jesus is the Christ, and later I read in the morning in 3 nefi 24 ish that God will start a work so great that the Gentiles will have to believe in him and if they believe in him and repent and all that they’ll be counted into the fold, basically, and its true, God is working to prepare his children to recieve the Gospel, and that’s what he wants, its his work and his glory, so that his children can return with him. We had two people that found us this week and want us to teach them and one of them told us basically that he wants to be baptized because it would save him and his family being split up, which is the truth. Its awesome every time God gives a little blessing like that, that he puts his children in our camino and they tell us they want to acercarse mas con èl. God is great. its like your song ¨the wheels in the sky keep on turning¨ The wheels of God keep on turning and is going on and on and on and....on , as Children we need to figure out who we are and what we are doing fulfill our purpose in this life to help others and when we help others , we help ourselves because we prepare ourselves more to comparecernos antes de Dios, so its great
